An Odessa man was arrested Friday night on an aggravated assault charge after a 26-year-old woman told authorities he beat her with his fists and a frying pan and her 4-year-old son corroborated her story.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, first responders received an assault call from the 2500 block of West Third Street around 9:30 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, paramedics took the woman to the hospital and officers took Christian William Lee, 31, into custody.

At the hospital, the woman told officers she and Lee had gotten into a verbal argument that turned violent. She said he punched her in the head about 40 times and kicked her in the ribs multiple times. At one point, she said Lee grabbed a pocket knife and a cast iron frying pan, told her he was going to kill her and asked her which she wanted to be hit with. He then hit her multiple times in the head and legs with the frying pan, she said.

The woman said her 4-year-old son pleaded with Lee not to kill her and he tried to get the knife away from him, the report stated.

When the boy was asked what happened he said Lee had a knife in one hand and a pan in the other and that Lee “hit mommy with the pan,” the report stated. He also said he tried to take the knife away from Lee.

The woman had obvious injuries to her head, face and legs, the report stated.

Lee was arrested on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon family violence charge, a third-degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison. He was also taken into custody on a probation violation warrant out of Louisiana. A $25,000 surety bond has been set in the assault case.
