Stolen smokes land Odessan in jail

A 54-year-old Odessa woman was arrested Monday after Ector County Sheriff’s Office deputies confirmed she was the same woman who stole nearly three dozen cartons of cigarettes from a local convenience store.

According to ECSO records, video surveillance shows Sandra Dee Allen going into the Quick Track at 801 Golder Avenue on March 22 and April 5, entering a closed storage area and then an office. On March 22, Allen is seen hiding 10 cartons of cigarettes “on her person” and leaving and on April 5, she did the same with 24 cartoons, the report stated.

One cartoon of Marlboro cigarettes costs $80-$90.

Deputies conducted a search on an East Second Street apartment on April 9 and found packs of cigarettes consistent with what was taken during the burglaries and Allen confessed she’d stolen them, the report stated.

Allen was arrested on suspicion of two counts of burglary of a building and she was released from the Ector County jail the following day after posting two surety bonds of $3,500 each.
