Odessan charged in deadly conduct

A 24-year-old Odessa man was arrested April 13 after an investigation tied him to an incident in which a local man said he was terrorized by a man with a gun following a car accident.

An Odessa Police Department report details that a 38-year-old man told police he was traveling on South Dixie Boulevard in his Ford F-150 when he was side-swiped by a black Chrysler 300 shortly after 3 a.m. He said he and the other driver pulled over, they began arguing and the other driver pointed a gun at him.

The man told police he left the scene and went to a business on Electric Street to get away from the other driver, but when he left the gunman and the gunman’s passenger were there and began taunting him in an attempt to come out into the parking lot. Their taunts prompted him to retreat back into the business and when he finally left the business he discovered his truck had been shot multiple times and bricks had been thrown through the glass, the report stated.

The man told police he didn’t know either of the men, but a mutual friend gave him a screenshot of a Facebook post detailing the incident.

According to the report, an investigation revealed Savoyrion Allen, a registered sex offender with a lengthy criminal history, had written the post and the pickup truck driver identified Allen as the man who pointed the gun at him. He also identified another man who commented on the same post as the passenger in the Chrysler that night.

Investigators also learned Allen had just bought a black Chrysler 300 on Feb. 26 and had a picture of it on his Facebook page.

Allen was arrested on suspicion of deadly conduct, criminal mischief and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Allen remains in the Ector County jail on bonds totaling $32,000.
