Stanton woman killed in Monday crash

A 40-year-old Stanton woman was killed in a two-vehicle wreck at State Highway 302 and FM1936 Monday afternoon.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 29-year-old Midland man was driving a Ford F-250 north on FM 1936 when he failed to yield the right of way to a Ford Edge that was traveling west on SH 302 and the vehicles collided.

A seat-belted passenger in the pickup truck, Ashley Lopez, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which took place shortly after noon, DPS stated.

The driver of the pickup was taken to Medical Center Hospital in stable condition.

According to DPS, the driver of the Ford Edge, a 44-year-old Kermit man, was treated at the scene and released. One of his passengers, a 16-year-old boy, was treated at Medical Center Hospital and released. His other passenger, a 36-year-old woman, wasn’t hurt.
