BRASWELL: Spring is here!

By Dr. Jimmy Braswell

Chaplain, Home Hospice of Odessa

I had a great surprise the other day when a gardenia plant I have been growing for a year had its first bloom. Oh, so fragrant and beautiful! I like the color white. It is one example of a very productive spring this year.

The floribunda roses are blooming abundantly and even the wildflowers seem to be cooperating in coming out in magnificent colors and quantities this year. Though the weeds are producing as well, even they have their color and beauty.

It seems to be the promise of a very fruitful year with the fruit trees and I’m sure other plants following suit. I’ve always enjoyed the beauty of plants and the cycle of change.

The promise of God is that all these cycles and seasonal changes will continue until the end of time. They are a reminder and reflection of the Glory of God, His call and promise to us and the eternal nature of the creation of God and the eternal Beauty of His Creation. I’m really enjoying all of this – I hope you are, too. Look around – there’s beauty to behold.
