Regional Flood Planning Group sets meeting

EL PASO People in the Pecos and Presidio areas can provide feedback on flooding they have experienced at their home or business to the Upper Rio Grande Regional Flood Planning Group (URGRFPG) at two open house-style public meetings in February.

Participating in the planning process helps ensure flood mitigation projects, strategies and priorities are represented in the Upper Rio Grande Regional Flood Plan and, ultimately, the 2023 State Flood Plan. Going forward, only the projects listed in the 2023 State Flood Plan are eligible for funding support through the Texas Water Development Board’s (TWDB) Flood Infrastructure Fund.

One is scheduled for Feb. 9 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Odessa College-Pecos Center, 1000 S. Eddy St.

The second one is scheduled for Feb. 10 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Presidio Activity Center, 1200 E. O’Reilly St., Presidio.

No formal presentation will be given at these open house-style meetings. They are opportunities for the public to review exhibits and provide their feedback to planners, engineers and others. Written comments may be left at the Pecos and Presidio meetings or submitted by mail to: Barracuda Public Relations, Attn: Region 14 Flood Planning, 2531½ East Yandell Drive, El Paso, TX 79903. Mailed comments must be received between Jan. 26, 2022, and Feb. 25, 2022.
