ANNUAL WOMAN OF ACHIEVEMENT DINNER

Uptown Midland Business and Professional Women is honoring Kathleen Kirwan-Haynie, senior life executive director and special needs advocate, as the 2022 Woman of Achievement at a dinner at 6 p.m. today at the Petroleum Club, 501 W. Wall St., Midland.

The annual event celebrates National Business Women’s Week by honoring the contributions of working women, as well as the employers who support working women and their families.

Tickets start at $65 per person.

MC MUSIC FACULTY RECITAL

Midland College has scheduled a music faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. today at the Allison Fine Arts Building, Wagner and Brown Auditorium, 3600 N. Garfield St., Midland.

The concert features Rabon Bewley (saxophone), Katie Osuamkpe (mezzo soprano), Joan Lucas (piano), Dr. Hyun Lee (piano), Mary Miller (guitar), Jared Reiff (baritone) and Dr. Rachelle Woolston (soprano). Performance includes a variety of music, including jazz, Broadway, arias and art songs performed as solos, duets and trios.

ORT MEETING

The Odessa Retired Teachers group has scheduled a free lunch and meeting starting at 11:30 a.m. today at the Highland Methodist Church, 1808 N. Dixie.

Guest speakers will be Kelvin Sparks and Rep. Brooks Landgraf.

ORT needs help from all the numbers of retired teachers and school personnel to help get a COLA in 2023.

VOLUNTEER POLL WATCHERS NEEDED

Ector County Commissioner Mike Gardner has announced the need for poll watcher volunteers.

Training will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ector County Republican Headquarters, 707 Jefferson Ave. Training takes about 45 minutes.

There is no interaction with the public; the objective is to observe the election process to ensure it is fair and honest.

PUMPKIN PATCH

The Bridge, 3901 E. Yukon Road, has scheduled Pumpkin Patch benefiting the West Texas Food Bank and Bridge Kids Ministries through Oct. 30.

The patch is open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and from noon to 7 p.m. Sundays.

Prices start at $1 and go up from there.
