Police: Burglary suspect planned on “kinky” sex

An Odessa man was arrested Friday morning after he admitted to breaking into a neighbor’s apartment to have “kinky” sex with her.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, a resident of the Houston Arms Apartments on North Lee Avenue called 911 around 9:30 a.m. to report a complete stranger had broken into her apartment and she’d locked herself inside her bathroom.

When officers arrived, several people pointed out Lowell Edwards Landers, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, the report stated. Officers saw him throw a bag of items into an apartment before coming back outside to speak with them.

When officers spoke with the woman, she said an unknown man threw himself against her door and when he couldn’t break in that way, he shattered her window, reached in and unlocked the door, the report stated.

After being read his Miranda rights, Landers told police he’d been using methamphetamine and he admitted shattering the window to get inside, the report stated.

The man said he knew the woman inside the apartment, but he gave a completely different name for her, the report stated.

According to the report, Landers had a meth pipe with him and when they searched the bag he threw inside his apartment they discovered handcuffs and a whip.

Landers claimed his neighbor invited him over by speaking to him through the walls and he’d planned on getting “kinky” with her, the report stated.

Landers was arrested on suspicion of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a sex offense, a first-degree felony, public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.
