Permian Strategic Partnership encourages voter registration

With Texas’ voter registration deadline approaching, the Permian Strategic Partnership is encouraging new voters to get registered, a press release detailed.

Over the next two weeks, PSP member companies plan to provide information and resources to their employee base to help prepare for the upcoming election.

PSP member company voter registration efforts aim to encourage turnout in November across the Permian Basin. Voter turnout in mid-term elections is typically ten to twenty percent lower than in Presidential election years.

In addition to statewide Gubernatorial and Railroad Commissioner races, November’s ballot features several critical local races, including Mayoral, County Commissioner, Public Schools Board and City Council races.

“Critical decisions on important issues to our region, including education, healthcare, transportation, and workforce development, largely happen at the local level,” Tracee Bentley, President and CEO of the PSP, stated in the press release. “It is crucial that residents of the Permian Basin get registered to vote and participate in these elections. This will decide the leadership and direction of our communities.”

The last day to register to vote is Oct. 11. The first day of early voting in-person is Oct. 24. Election day is set for Nov. 8.

Texas residents can check their status and register to vote here and find a printable application form on the Secretary of State’s website.

Residents who wish to register in-person can find registration locations on their respective County Election Office websites.
