Odessan accused of sexually assaulting teenager

The Odessa Police Department arrested a 19-year-old Odessa man Thursday after a cell phone app helped confirm a 15-year-old girl’s claim that he sexually assaulted her back in October.

According to an OPD report, when officers were notified Jan. 14 about the girl’s alleged assault, she was taken to Harmony Home Children’s Advocacy Center where she underwent a forensic interview.

The girl told the interviewer an acquaintance she knew as “Chungus” told her he’d give her a ride to a friend’s house in October if she had sex with him, the report stated.

On the way to the house, the girl said Chungus had sex with her behind a hotel and made her perform oral sex on him as he drove her the rest of the way, the report stated.

The girl allowed detectives to search her phone and they found a conversation on it from Oct. 10 and Oct. 11 matching several of the details she had provided them, the report stated.

Detectives interviewed the friend and he confirmed the girl had told him about the sexual intercourse that night, the report stated.

Detectives identified Roman Tillery as the suspect and he was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault of a child Thursday. He remained in the Ector County jail Friday night on a $30,000 surety bond.
