Odessan accused of pulling knife

An Odessa man was arrested Saturday evening after he was accused of pulling a knife on another man.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, dispatchers received a disturbance call around 5 p.m. Saturday from the 300 block of Amburgey, causing officers to respond with lights and sirens.

When officers arrived, a man said he was standing outside his residence as people were washing his car when Jose Antonio Fuentez, Jr. 39, came down the block from his house and threatened the car washers to a fight, the report stated.

The man said that when his wife told Fuentez to leave, Fuentez began arguing with her, prompting him to tell Fuentez to stop, the report stated.

When Fuentez challenged him to a fight, the man told officers he told Fuentez he was being stupid and ordered him to leave. According to the report, the man said Fuentez pulled a knife and threatened to cut him.

When officers spoke with Fuentez, they noticed he smelled strongly of alcohol and he acknowledged he’d drank a tall boy, the report stated.

Fuentez told officers he went to the other man’s home because the car washers had said something to him, the report stated. When the home owner came out, Fuentez said they exchanged “What’s ups” and he pulled a knife.

According to the report, Fuentez said he threw the knife and walked away because a woman at the house said she’d called the police.

Fuentez was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and public intoxication.

Fuentez remained in the Ector County jail Monday night on surety bonds totaling $25,000.
