Odessan accused of pulling gun

A 31-year-old man was arrested Saturday night after a couple accused him of pointing a gun at them during a fight.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, officers received a “subject with a gun” call around 7 p.m. Saturday from the 200 block of Aldridge Avenue.

A woman and her boyfriend said they were standing outside a GMC Sierra arguing with Enrique Navarrete Chavez when he pulled a gun and pointed it at her from the driver’s side seat, the report stated. The boyfriend said he then stood in front of the woman to protect her.

The couple said Chavez’s girlfriend, who is the woman’s sister, got out of the Sierra and Chavez took off, the report stated.

Chavez and his girlfriend said he only pulled the gun after the other man tried to get into the truck, the report stated. Chavez said he kept it in its holster and pointed it at the ground. His girlfriend said he pointed the gun at a trailer behind her sister.

Chavez was arrested on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was released from the Ector County jail Sunday after posting surety bonds totaling $50,000.
