A 19-year-0ld man is facing a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge after police said he caused a crash that left residents without power for hours.
According to a news release, Fernando Medrano, 19, was intoxicated and driving a Dodge Ram when he struck a utility pole and gas meter near University Boulevard and West County Road around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
In addition to being booked into the Ector County jail on the DWI charge, Medrano was cited for failure to control speed to avoid an accident with a fixture.
He was released after posting a $500 bond.
