Odessa Links marks 20 years

Odessa Links will be celebrating its 20th anniversary at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Odessa Country Club.

The event will honor Odessa Links’ partners, the City of Odessa, United Way of Odessa and the Bagley Family.

According to its website, Odessa Links provides the community with access to resources and follow-up care, together with local organizations.

The site said it is a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency governed by a board of directors.

“Over the years we’ve been best described as: a non-profit hub, nucleus of services, connection point, a linking service, an entry point,” the site said.

Andrea Quiroz was the first executive director and this is her third time back.

Quiroz said the organization formed out of an unmet need in the community and the organization continues to add services to help people in the community with unmet needs including homeless families.

Quiroz added that Odessa Links is having a conference from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the MCM Elegante Hotel for social workers and case managers to empower them and offer self-care.

They can also earn continuing education units.

She noted that only 10 percent of Odessa Links’ budget is for operations. Everything else goes straight to the clients.
