MOSC hosts TAKE3 on stage

MIDLAND The Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale will welcome the group TAKE3 to the stage for a performance, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center.

TAKE3 is a well-known musical trio, featuring violinist Lindsay Deutsch, pianist Jason Stoll, and cellist Mikala Schmitz.

TAKE3  blends a rigorous classical music background and infuses it with rock-star charisma.

The trio has toured around the country, performing with orchestras in most of the 50 states.

“We’re really excited to have TAKE3 join us for our Pops Concert,” Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale Executive Director Ethan Wills said. “We have another pops concert coming up after that. It’s a really dynamic trio with a huge stage presence that can really get crowds excited and they blend classical and rock and pop, big genre.”

Because there’s going to be a blend of different musical genres, Wills said there will be something for everyone in the audience to enjoy.

“It’s great,” Wills said. “That’s one of the things with the Midland-Odessa symphony chorale. I’ve noticed that our patrons tend to box themselves in and say, ‘I really enjoy masterworks or I really enjoy pops performances’ and that’s interesting to me considering that there are so many sub-genres out there.”

Members of TAKE3 have also made an impact on the music scene as soloists, touring the world and recording tracks for film and television.

Deutsch has been a featured soloist on the Netflix series “The Witcher.”

“They have a myriad of performance capabilities,” Wills said. “They’ll do anything from Beatles repertoire to famous pop music from the 60s to today. Lindsay was a violinist on the Netflix series ‘The Witcher,’ so she’s done a bunch of stuff for that. What they have in their toolbox to pull out and perform is endless which is really exciting. What’s cool about that is that we catered to our audiences really well and we can put on a show that’s entertaining.”

Masks will be required and seating for the event will be socially distanced and limited.

“The Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center has decided that they’re still at 50 percent capacity for the remainder of our symphony season,” Wills said. “That means what we’ve been doing since January, because we were at 30 percent in the early winter but we’ve since moved to 50 percent and that’s our max.”

Tickets are $30-$50. Students are $17. Tickets can be purchased at mosc.org or by calling 800-514-3849 or at the Wagner Noël box office from 1-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

The Saturday performance was originally scheduled as “Imagine-The Music of the Beatles,” however that will be rescheduled to a later date, according to Wills.
