Missing woman found dead in her home

An Odessa woman who was reported missing April 22 has been found deceased.

Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis said Wilmalea P. Rosen was found inside her home on May 2 after relatives gave deputies permission to enter the home.

It appears as though Rosen, 65, may have fallen inside the home, Griffis said.

“Apparently she was a hoarder, the house was very cluttered,” he said.

Due to the condition of her remains, she likely expired quite some time ago, Griffis said.

ECSO Investigator Heidi Zavala said a relative of Rosen, who lives outside Ector County , called the sheriff’s office April 22 asking deputies to check on Rosen because she hadn’t been able to reach her on the phone. The two spoke periodically and the last time they’d spoken was sometime in February and at that time Rosen was depressed, Zavala said.

When deputies went to Rosen’s home in the 7300 block of Hughes Lane no one answered the door, Zavala said.

The Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified Rosen using X-rays on Wednesday, Griffis said.

“We feel like it’s a natural death, but we don’t want to rule that until we make plum sure that’s the case,” he said.
