MISD names W&Y principal to leadership post

The Midland ISD Board of Trustees has approved hiring Wilson and Young Middle School Principal Jessica Redman as executive director of school leadership.

Redman joins MISD after spending 16 years at ECISD, where she was instrumental in improving test scores as principal at Wilson & Young Middle School. She has also served as an assistant principal, teacher, and counselor, a news release said.

The board approved several hires of administrative staff, including:

  • Andrea Messick, formerly of Ector County ISD, was named executive director of Teaching & Learning. She currently serves as MISD’s Director of Early Childhood. She has 13 years of experience as a teacher and school administrator.
  • Tanya Duewall is being promoted to Jones Elementary principal after spending the past nine years as an elementary assistant principal. She brings a total of 26 years of experience, including the past 19 years with Midland ISD.
  • David Duarte has been named De Zavala Elementary principal. He has served as an elementary principal for the past four years and has also served as an elementary and secondary teacher for the past 12 years.
