Grammy-nominated composer, producer, conductor, and keyboardist, Wally Minko, will perform with the West Texas Symphony at 7:30 p.m. March 2. This world premier performance will take place at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center.
Joining Minko are musicians that make up his jazz quartet — Gary Meek, saxophone and flute, Ernest Tibbs, bass, and David Zarlenga on drums.
Minko has toured and performed with top stars including Barry Manilow, Tom Jones, Pink, Arturo Sandoval, Toni Braxton, New Edition, and many more. This performance is unique however, as all of the music has been composed by Minko, exclusively for Orchestra and Jazz Quartet, in a collection he titles “Opposites Attract.”
Minko is part of West Texas Symphony’s Pops & Family Series underwritten by the Wood Family Foundation. Tickets are $33 – $60 and can be purchased at WTXS.ORG or by calling 800-514-3849. All student tickets are $12 with a paying adult or valid college ID. A special discount is offered for groups of 10 or more.
This concert is sponsored by Brazos Door & Hardware, Basin PBS, and West Texas Radio Group. For more information on this or other WTS events, visit WTXS.ORG.
