Man charged with assaulting fiancée

An Odessa Police Department probable cause affidavit detailed a 32-year-old man was arrested after he assaulted his fiancée.

Anthony Jerome Conley was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury (family violence), a second-degree felony.

The reported assault happened around 4:11 a.m. March 12 in the 1200 block of Masquerade Boulevard, the affidavit stated.

Officers say they made contact with Conley and Rodriguez. Both subjects stated everything was OK. Both subjects refused to step outside or allow officers inside the home. Officers were unable to see any visible injuries on either subject.

Contact was made with the complainant, identified as Abel Espinoza, who stated that Conley had called him and told him that he beat Rodriguez and that she needed to go to the hospital but Rodriguez was refusing to go, the affidavit stated.

Officers say they attempted to contact Conley and Rodriguez again but no one answered the door. Officers stayed on scene watching the home to see if Conley or Rodriguez would leave.

A white Jeep was seen leaving the residence and a traffic stop was initiated, the affidavit stated. Rodriguez was operating the Jeep. Officers were able to see Rodriguez to have a very swollen and bruised right eye that was completely shut closed. The left side of her face was bruised and Rodriguez stated that her whole body was in pain.

Rodriguez told officers that Conley had struck her multiple times causing serious bodily injury.

Conley was arrested and booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on March 14, jail records show. He had one bond totaling $20,000 and posted bail on March 15.
