Man arrested in golf club attack

A 38-year-old man was arrested Tuesday roughly three weeks after he was shot while allegedly trying to attack another man with a golf club.

According to an Ector County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies received a disturbance call from West 42nd Street and Highway 302 around 5 p.m. Nov. 27.

When deputies arrived, a man said when he parked near the Aghorn lease road to call his boss about a suspicious vehicle, the driver of the vehicle pulled up next to his truck and began to beat the truck with a golf club, the report stated.

The man told deputies he thought the stranger was “trying to get to him anyway he could and hurt him,” so he shot the man from inside his truck, the report stated.

The man, later identified as Christopher Lynn Wiley, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Ector County jail.

No bail information was immediately available.
