Summer is almost here and students can almost feel that joy of knowing that study time is over and fun time is now.

There are a number of summer activities and camps that are available throughout the summer months for those students who don’t want to couch potato it.

From archery to Spanish to soccer and dancing – there are a lot of options.

 

ODESSA

Odessa College, 201 W. University Blvd., is accepting registration for a variety of summer camps and activities.

Archery (ages 8-12): 9 a.m. to noon, June 10-13, July 15-18, Aug. 5-8, OC Sports Center, $99.

Basketball-Coed (ages 7-10): 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., June 3-6, OC Sports Center, $99.

Basketball-Coed (ages 11-14): 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., July 8-11, OC Sports Center, $99.

The Ellen Noël Art Museum, 4909 E. University Blvd., has scheduled Summer Art Camps for kids, ages 6-12.

June 10-14: 9:15 a.m. to noon, Ceramics/Art & Imagination, $100.

June 17-21: 9:15 a.m. to noon, Painting/Art Trip, $100.

July 15-19: 9:15 a.m. to noon, 3D Design/Creatures, $100.

A limited number of scholarships are available based on financial need. Class size is limited and classes fill up quickly. Advance registration is required.

Museum hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (extended hours until 8 p.m. Thursday) and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

MIDLAND

The Permian Basin Petroleum Museum, 1500 I-20 West, Midland, has scheduled STEAM Sprouts mini camps, a Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Math educational program for children ages 4-5, May 29-30 and June 5-6.

There are two time options to choose from, 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Children may attend only during the time they are registered for.

May 29-30: STEAM Sprouts Learn to Code.

June 5-6: STEAM Sprouts Goes Camping.

Pre-registration is required. The cost per mini camp is $40 for museum members and $50 for non-members.

June 17: “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” (PG).

July 1: “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (PG).

July 15: “Ralph Breaks the Internet” (PG).

Each camp will include a fun animated movie, popcorn, hands-on experiments, engineering challenges, creative activities and games.
