Large portion of land purchased near Brown memorial

The City of Odessa has been contacted by a developer who has purchased a large portion of land in the area of the intersection of North Grandview and Yukon Road, a press release from the city stated Friday.

Near this location, a temporary memorial was established in the remembrance of Kameron Brown who was a victim of the Aug. 31, 2019 mass shooting.

The press release said that the construction to take place will disturb the temporary memorial.

The Odessa Chamber of Commerce has contacted the family and former employer of Brown and the items at this location will be provided to his mother.

The release further stated that the City of Odessa would like to remind the public that a memorial for all victims of the Aug. 31 shooting is currently under design and construction will begin soon on the UTPB campus and that the City of Odessa is proud to partner in the memorial construction process as they wish to honor those lost and injured during the incident but also honor the first responders who provided aid.
