Fired firefighter accused of impersonating public servant

An Odessa man who was fired from the West Odessa Volunteer Fire Department for allegedly using emergency lights inappropriately is now accused of impersonating a public servant.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, officers received a disturbance call on April 26 from the intersection of Andrews Highway and Blue Drive.

When officers arrived, a witness told them a Chevrolet Impala with red and blue police emergency lights had picked up several of the people involved in the disturbance and surveillance video footage corroborated the witness’ statement, the report stated.

Officers discovered the Impala was registered to the boyfriend of Alfredo Flores, 30, and Flores had put the emergency lights into the vehicle while with the fire department, the report stated.

The report also stated Flores had been fired for using the lights without taking the appropriate classes.

When officers spoke with Flores he admitted to activating the lights to get to the scene of the disturbance faster as one of the men’s daughters was involved in it, the report stated.

Flores was booked into the Ector County jail Thursday morning on suspicion of impersonating a public servant, a third-degree felony. No bail has been set yet.
