Father accused of rebar attack

An Odessa man was arrested Thurday after his son accused him of attacking him with rebar so violently it bent the piece of metal.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, an officer responding to an assault call in the 3800 block of Melody Lane on July 25 found a 23-year-old man barely able to move his left arm and left leg with red marks on those appendages.

The man told the officer his father, Roman Floris, 58, had come home intoxicated on a substance, assaulted him and then threatened to shoot him to death, the report stated.

Floris left the home prior to the officer’s arrival, but he was arrested two days later on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrant. He was released from the Ector County jail after posting a $40,000 surety bond.
