After receiving a significant amount of rain between Saturday night and Monday morning, Odessans can expect drier conditions for awhile, said Scott Kleebauer, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Parts of Odessa recorded right around an inch of rain between late Saturday night and 7 a.m. Monday, Kleebauer said. Midland recorded .68 inches at the airport during the same time frame.

Although Monday was “definitely active” in terms of rain after 7 a.m., those number won’t be known until Tuesday morning, Kleebauer said.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t receive an inch to an inch and a half for the whole event,” Kleebauer said. “Some areas had the benefit of being hit multiple times and other areas were skipped over.”

As rainy as it was in Odessa, Kleebauer said McCamey received significantly more rain. The city recorded 3.5 inches of rain over the last seven days, with two inches of it falling Sunday.

Wind gusts of 50 miles an hour were also recorded outside Hobbs, N.M., Kleebauer said.

“We’re going to be drying out now,” Kleebauer said. “We’re looking at temperatures in the ’60s Tuesday, but mostly sunny and we’ll be in the low ’70s by Wednesday.”
