DPS identifies woman who died in 4-vehicle collision

A 23-year-old Odessa woman died after she was the passenger involved in a four-vehicle collision.

The reported fatal collision happened at 2:21 a.m. Feb. 6 on Farm-to-Market Road 2020 about six miles west of Odessa, a Texas Department of Public Safety press release stated.

Troopers say the investigation showed 24-year-old Alan Valenzuela of Odessa was the driver of the 2021 GMC Acadia, while 23-year-old Odessan Amairany Flores was the passenger. It was determined that a 2014 Honda CRV was traveling eastbound on Farm-to-Market Road 2020 with the Acadia traveling behind the CRV when the Acadia failed to control speed and collided with the CRV’s rear.

The Acadia then traveled across the center median into the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was traveling westbound in the inside lane, the press release stated. A 2019 GMC Acadia, which was traveling westbound then struck the 2021 Acadia.

This investigation continues.
