DPS identifies pedestrian killed last month

The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the pedestrian who was killed last month in an accident on West University Boulevard at Polaris Avenue.

According to DPS, Guadalupe Hernandez Franco, 55, of Odessa was crossing FM 2020 outside of a crosswalk on Aug. 21 when he was struck by a Ford F-150 being driven by a 47-year-old Odessa man shortly before 9 p.m. Franco was then struck by other vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Franco wasn’t immediately identified and it took time to locate relatives to tell them of his death.
