Police respond to subject with firearm

The Odessa Police Department reportedly responded to a gas station in reference to a person with a firearm.

The reported incident happened at 5:47 a.m. Thursday at the Quick Track located at 317 N. Dixie Blvd, an OPD press release detailed.

Officers reportedly found a subject that had fallen asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle in the parking lot. As officers arrived, they found him to be armed with a weapon. OPD later clarified that to be a firearm.

Officers used less-lethal tactics to get him out of the vehicle, the press release stated. Once the subject was detained, he was given medical treatment.
