No foul play is suspected in the death of an infant boy Thursday morning, the Odessa Police Department stated.

An OPD news release detailed that officers received a medical call around 8:19 a.m. Thursday in the 800 block of East 16th St. Dispatch advised that a 3-month-old boy was unconscious and not breathing.

The victim, Joshua Stephens Jr., was taken to Medical Center Hospital and later pronounced dead by medical personnel, the release detailed.

The Criminal Investigation Unit responded to the scene per standard protocol, the release stated, and a search warrant was obtained for investigative purposes.

Stephens’ body will be sent to Tarrant County for an autopsy, the release detailed.

Police are investigating the death of a 3-month-old boy Thursday morning.

OPD Spokesman Steve LeSueur said police received a medical call around 8:19 a.m. Thursday morning from the 800 block of East 16th Street.

Upon arrival, the infant was transported to Medical Center Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

LeSueur said detectives are still on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
