Man charged with assaulting girlfriend, endangering child

A man was charged by police Saturday after he reportedly assaulted his girlfriend and swung around a car seat carrying their 3-month-old child.

Police were called about the disturbance at about 9:44 p.m. Saturday at Fairgreen Apartments, 4675 Oakwood Dr., an Odessa Police Department news release said.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 19-year-old woman and her boyfriend, 20-year-old Domonick McGee, the release stated.

After both subjects got into an argument, the release detailed, McGee reportedly prevented his girlfriend from leaving by grabbing the car seat carrying their child from her and swung it around.

McGee’s girlfriend ran to an apartment nearby and asked them to call the police after McGee attempted to choke her, the release said.

As she was waiting for police to arrive, McGee struck her in the back of the head with a closed fist, the release stated, and then used a knife to scratch her vehicle and attempted to stab the tires.

Police charged McGee with endangering a child, a state jail felony, assault causing bodily injury and criminal mischief, class A misdemeanors.

Jail records show McGee was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Sunday and has three bonds totaling $15,000.
