Man charged in northwest Odessa shooting

Odessa police arrested and charged a man Friday who was reportedly involved in two drive-by shootings last week.

Officers were first called at about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Ellis Drive, where the suspect, 26-year-old Francisco Ramos, reportedly shot at multiple residences from a black Chevrolet Tahoe before fleeing the scene, an Odessa Police Department news release stated.

Police were called about a second drive-by shooting around 10:09 p.m. Thursday in the same block, the release detailed. Again, Ramos reportedly shot at multiple residences before fleeing the scene.

No injuries were reported in either shooting.

Ramos was eventually found by OPD, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service and the Texas Rangers, and charged with two counts aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, and possession of cocaine, a third-degree felony.

Jail records show Ramos was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Saturday and has three bonds totaling $115,000.

The release stated police are still investigating the shootings and more charges are anticipated.
