ECTOR COUNTY FELONY DISPOSITIONS: November 8, 2021

The following is a list of felony dispositions from the Ector County District Clerk’s Office. Listed attorneys do not necessarily represent who was involved when the case was disposed. The prosecuting attorney was not listed unless otherwise stated.

ABANDON

Selene Ponce,26, pleaded guilty Oct. 29 to abandon endanger child intentional/knowing/reckless/criminal negligence and was sentenced to three years probation and deferred adjudication. Judge John Shrode approved the deal. Scott Layh was the attorney.

ASSAULT

Tony Gamble,32, pleaded guilty Oct. 27 to intoxication assault with vehicle serious bodily injury (F3) and was sentenced to two years in prison. Judge John W. Smith approved the deal.

Victoria Marie Villareal,38, had an aggravated assault with deadline weapon charge dismissed Oct. 28. Judge James Rush presided. Michael Louis McLeaish was the attorney.

DWI

Avery Chad Adams,21, pleaded guilty Oct. 18 to driving while intoxicated third or more and was sentenced to five years probation and eight years in prison (suspended). Judge Justin Low approved the deal. Scott Layh was the attorney.

Jonathan Alejandro Esparza,33, pleaded guilty Oct. 28 to driving while intoxicated third or more and was sentenced to five years probation and 10 years in prison (suspended). Judge Denn Whalen approved the deal. Nick Todaro was the attorney.

Jose Angel Salgado,32, had a driving while intoxicated third or more charge dismissed March 14, 2017. Judge James Rush presided. Tony Chavez was the attorney.

EVADING ARREST

Austin McDaniel,19, pleaded guilty Oct. 22 to evading arrest detain with vehicle and was sentenced to 10 years probation and 10 years in prison (suspended) in an order adjudicating guilt. Judge James Rush approved the deal. Christy Lynn Cauthen was the attorney.

Eduardo Viescas, IV,37, had an evading arrest detain with vehicle (F3) charge dismissed Nov. 1. Judge John W. Smith presided. Daniel Sarabia Jr. was the attorney.

Jesse Zuniga Reyna,29, had an evading arrest detain with vehicle (F3) charge dismissed Oct. 29. Judge W. Stacy Trotter presided. Dayna Leann Jones was the attorney.

Joedaniel Alvarez,19, pleaded guilty Nov. 1 to evading arrest detain with vehicle (F3) and was sentenced to three years probation and deferred adjudication. Judge Denn Whalen approved the deal. Steve Hershberger was the attorney.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Pedro Andres Hernandez,49, pleaded guilty Oct. 28 to fail to comply sex offender duty to register life/annual and was sentenced to three years in prison. Judge Denn Whalen approved the deal. BJ Brown was the attorney.

IMPROPER RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EDUCATOR/STUDENT

David Rey Franco,45, pleaded guilty Oct. 26 to improper relationship between educator/student (F2) and was sentenced to 18 years in prison. Judge John Shrode approved the deal.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Adolfo Arturo Hernandez,33, pleaded guilty Oct. 29 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, and was sentenced to two years probation and deferred adjudication. Judge James Rush approved the deal. Michael Louis McLeaish was the attorney.

Billy Ray Poss Cox,56, was granted discharge and dismissal Oct. 21 on the charge of possession of a controlled substance, more than one gram, but less than four grams. Judge John W. Smith presided. Lane Andrew Haygood was the attorney.

Christina Renee McKinley,48, pleaded guilty Oct. 28 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, (SJF) and was sentenced to two years probation and deferred adjudication. Judge Denn Whalen approved the deal. Scott Layh was the attorney.

Rusty Melvin Beavers,45, had an aggravated robbery (F1) charge dismissed Nov. 1. Judge Justin Low presided. Kevin Acker was the attorney.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

David Rey Franco,45, pleaded guilty Oct. 26 to two counts of sexual assault child (F2) and was sentenced to 18 years in prison. Judge John Shrode approved the deal.

Thomas Christopher Licon, Jr.,24, pleaded guilty Oct. 28 to sexual assault of a child and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Judge Justin Low approved the deal. Robert V. Garcia was the attorney.

THEFT

Amber Rose Welch,34, pleaded guilty Oct. 22 to theft property, less than $2,500 two more previous convictions and was sentenced to six months in state jail in an order adjudicating guilt. Judge W. Stacy Trotter approved the deal.

Angela Denise Smith,49, pleaded guilty Oct. 28 to theft of property (SJF) and was sentenced to 12 months in state jail. Judge Denn Whalen approved the deal. Don R. Fletcher was the attorney.

Deidre Marie Rivers,47, pleaded guilty Oct. 11 to theft property, less than $2,500 two more previous convictions (SJF) and was sentenced to 12 months in state jail. Judge Justin Low approved the deal.

Eugenio Hernandez,32, pleaded guilty Oct. 29 to theft property, more than $30,000, but less than $150,000, and was sentenced to three years probation and deferred adjudication. Judge Justin Low approved the deal. D. Bret Mansur was the attorney.
