Deputies arrest man after car chase

Ector County deputies reported arresting a 17-year-old man Tuesday evening after a car chase through Odessa and the county that exceeded 100 miles per hour and lasted nearly 20 minutes.

Police reported narcotics investigators were pursuing Issac Elijah Florez, who was driving a white Nissan near 10th Street and Sam Houston Avenue, when he ran a stop sign and almost struck another vehicle.

State troopers in a helicopter assisted in the chase, which ended on Moss Avenue and Hubnik Road in West Odessa, where Florez reportedly got out of the Nissan and was arrested on a felony evading charge.

Jail records showed no additional charges.

Florez was listed as being held Wednesday at the Ector County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
