1. How long have you lived at your current address?

46 years at current address.

2. What elected offices have you held and when? Also, what other officers have you run for?

I have not held elected offices in the past nor have I run for elected office until now.

3. Occupation:

I retired from the Ector County Independent School District after 35 years of service as a classroom teacher; counselor; campus administrator and central office administrator. Upon retirement in 2009, I was Assistant Superintendent for the Department of Human Resources. Following my retirement, I provided services to the district as a substitute teacher and substitute administrator. I also provided substitute administrator service to the Midland Independent School District for a short-term.

5. Family:

I am widowed, Wife, Adela Larrea Vasquez, 54-years of marriage (deceased). Two children; daughter, Monica Vasquez Tschauner and son, Patrick Vasquez. Adela and I were blessed with four grandchildren as well.

6. Why are you seeking this office?

I wish to provide public, civic and equitable representation to all citizens of Odessa, Texas. I plan to be a good steward of the financial responsibilities that come with the job of being on the City Council. My vote will always be in the direction of doing what is right and best for all citizens of our great community. Odessa has been good to me. It’s my turn to give back to Odessa to help it keep progressing forward for our future citizens.

7. What qualifies you to hold this office?

I have lived in Odessa since 1954 and consider it my hometown. I attended all of my public school education in Odessa. My career employment in the ECISD (35 + years) gave me opportunities to work with a diversified population of citizens many of whom are currently public and civic leaders in the community; business owners; educators; religious leaders, and most importantly, our community labor workforce. All of these groups of representatives will look to me to make my one vote count in favor of what is in the BEST INTEREST FOR ALL CITIZENS OF ODESSA!

8. Have you ever been charged with a crime?

No, I have no criminal record.

9. Given the state of politics in the world today, what approach would you take should your opinion differ from others on the council?

I will always listen to and respect the opinion of others with the understanding that I may differ with their way of thinking. My goal is to educate myself of my responsibilities as a councilman and to stay within the governance rules and all ordinances for which I take the oath.

10. What is the most important issue facing the Odessa City Council?

At this time, I can honestly say that I do not have first-hand knowledge of what the most important issue is that our current council is facing.
