A Big Lake man was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle wreck two miles outside Rankin.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Jared Anthony Jones, 35, was traveling west on U.S. 67 in a Ford F-350 when he failed to control his speed and struck the rear of a tractor-trailer as the driver was preparing to turn left onto CR 220.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene; it’s unknown if he was wearing a seat belt. The driver of the other vehicle, a 59-year-old man from San Angelo, wasn’t hurt.
