5.3 earthquake shakes Permian Basin

An earthquake rattled the Permian Basin late Friday afternoon.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey website, the 5.3 magnitude earthquake was felt at about 5:35 p.m. in northeast Odessa.

The earthquake was centered about 12.5 miles northwest of Midland.

Odessa Fire Rescue division chief Terrey Brumbalow says no reports of damage.
