New entrance and exit ramps to open on I-20 near Loop 250 in May

A new westbound exit ramp on I-20 will open just east of Loop 250 in early May. This is a permanent feature of the Midkiff bridge project and will provide westbound travelers a more convenient exit to Loop 250.

A new westbound entrance ramp will open a week later in the same vicinity. Both of these features will provide increased access for westbound I-20 motorists between SH 349 and FM 1788.

Watch for updates on social media and roadside message boards and be alert for temporary main lane closures as these new ramps are brought into service.

The bridge at CR 1250 is complete and carrying traffic. The bridge decks for the Midkiff and Cotton Flat bridges are complete and concrete paving has begun on the main lanes approaching both bridges. I-20 travelers are seeing paving crews work nights, days and weekends to complete this paving and open Midkiff and Cotton Flat to north-south traffic as soon as possible. To that end, Cotton Flat is now connected to the frontage roads.

James Construction was awarded the Midkiff bridge project with a bid of approximately $36.3 million. FNF construction was awarded the adjacent Cotton Flat bridge project with a bid of approximately $68.5 million.
