A 36-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a man whose body Ector County Sheriff’s authorities found outside of a trailer at a hay bale business along South Moss Avenue.
The name of the suspect was not released but Sheriff Mike Griffis said the investigation into the shooting was open and that many details could not be made public. Griffis did say that the suspect would likely face a charge of murder for his suspected role in the killing of the 36-year-old victim whose name was also not released pending notification of relatives.
Dispatchers received a call at about 8:35 p.m. and sent sheriff’s deputies to 803 S. Moss Ave., where they found the victim shot dead outside of a trailer. A motive behind the shooting was not disclosed but Griffis said a weapon had been recovered. It is believed the victim lived on the property, Griffis said.
A 16-year-old boy, Braydon Henson, said he lives next door to the location where the shooting took place. The owner does not live there, but Henson said he knew at least one person who lived on the property.
At first, Henson thought he heard fireworks. Henson realized later the sounds he heard were not.
"I heard about five repeated shots," Henson said.
