Police arrest woman’s ex-husband

A man was arrested on suspicion of burglarizing his ex-wife’s home during the weekend and then smashing a bottle of Budweiser beer over her head.
Enrique Contreras, 49, was arrested at about 2:10 a.m. Saturday on a charge of burglary of a habitation, a second degree felony.
Dispatchers sent Odessa police officers to a location in the 2700 block of Madera regarding an assault victim.
A 48-year-old woman told the officers she suffered a head injury, and then the officers learned that her ex-husband, identified as Contreras, entered her home and smashed the beer bottle over her head before fleeing, the Odessa Police Department reported.
Officers saw the broken pieces of dark brown glass all over the living room floor with the label that read Budweiser on it. Officers found Contreras in the 400 block of Pine. Contreras reportedly admitted to the officers that he struck his ex-wife on the head with the beer bottle.
