NORTH AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE: Jacks come up short in overtime

TOPEKA, KS. The Odessa Jackalopes came up short in overtime, losing to the Topeka Pilots 4-3 Friday night at the Kansas Expocentre.
The Jackalopes took a 1-0 lead in the first period with Connor Smith scoring before Topeka’s Valdemar Ahlberg tied things up before the first intermission.
Brendan Coughlin’s goal in the second period gave Odessa (13-20-1) a 2-1 advantage before the Pilots (16-16-2) answered back with a power play goal from Connor Zilisch.
Connor Fedorek put the Jackalopes back in front with a power play goal of his own before Topeka’s Quinn Green equalized to make it 3-3 by the end of the second period.
After no goals were scored in the third period, Austin McCarthy delivered the game winning goal in overtime for the Pilots.
