Mobile home fire

Odessa firefighters work a mobile home fire at 6824 W. Artie St. that left four people homeless Friday afternoon. The fire was called out about 2 p.m., Battalion Chief Danny Wyatt said. Firefighters aren’t sure where the fire started, but believe it could have been under the porch. The fire then ran up the doorway into the living room, he said. He added that there was “quite a bit” of smoke damage throughout the house and the residents will have to find temporary shelter until repairs can be made. Wyatt said the home was not livable and “quite a bit of clean up” would have to be done. He added that no one was injured and the cause is not known at this point. Two engines, one tanker, an ambulance and the Battalion Chief responded along with Ector County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
