March 15 Odessa police arrested 42-year-old Marcus Judie and charged him with theft of property with at least two prior convictions, a state jail felony. Officers responded at 9:07 p.m. March 15 to Best Buy, 6301 E. Highway 191, in reference to someone trespassing. Police made contact with Best Buy personnel, who told them the suspect, identified as Judie, had committed prior thefts at their store. K9 “Jimmy” conducted an open air sniff on Judie’s vehicle in the parking lot and alerted on the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle, a white Honda Civic, and found a black Adidas hat, a Sky Viper Drone (still in the box) and a pair of Adidas running shoes (still in the box) that still had the sales tags on them. All of the items appeared to have been recently purchased or stolen from Academy Sports and Outdoors. Police searched Judie and found him to be in possession of a black pair of Under Armour shorts, a set of wire cutters and an anti-theft device that had been removed from an item. Officers contacted Academy, and surveillance footage revealed that Judie stole the items and exited the store without making any attempt to pay. Investigation revealed that Judie stole about $421 worth of merchandise from the store. Further investigation revealed that Judie had four prior theft convictions. Judie, 3602 30th St., Lubbock, was being held March 22 at the Ector County Detention Center on $15,000 bond.
