Jermaine Evans

March 20 Odessa police arrested 34-year-old Jermaine Evans and charged him with assault by strangulation, a third-degree felony; and for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Officers responded at 10:13 a.m. March 20 to the 100 block of West 38th Street in reference to an incomplete 9-1-1 call. Police made contact with a man, identified as Evans, who they saw running in the 3700 block of Andrews Highway. Investigation revealed that after Evans got into an argument with his 29-year-old girlfriend over text messages, he struck her in the face, causing bruises. Evans then grabbed his girlfriend by the neck and applied pressure, impeding her normal ability to breathe. Officers observed swelling on the left side of the girlfriend’s face, along with bruising and blood near her eye. An emergency protective order was completed and Evans was charged and arrested accordingly. Evans, 3727 Andrews Highway, was released March 22 from the Ector County Detention Center on $15,000 bond.
