Lifeguard certification course to start 

The Odessa College Sports Center, 201 W. University Blvd., has scheduled an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 31 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 1-2. 
Course skill requirements include the ability to tread water with no hands for two minutes, retrieve a brick from at least seven feet on the pool floor without pushing off of a wall, and 300 yards of continuous swimming. 
Participants will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, an American Red Cross Lifeguard Manual and a CPR Breathing Barrier Kit. 
The cost is $175 per person. Must be at least 15 years old to participate.

The Crisis Center offers a Batterers Intervention and Prevention Program called reStart. This rehabilitation program for male batterers is ongoing with attendees required to participate for 18 consecutive weeks for graduation. The cost is $20 per session.
