The H2i Coalition and Odessa Police Department recently celebrated the six year anniversary of the Medicine Drop Box. The H2i Coalition presented a plaque to Chief Gerke in appreciation of OPD’s dedication and support of the Medication Take Back Program. Within the last year, approximately 753 pounds of prescription pills & over-the-counter medicines have been collected in the OPD Medicine Take Back Box. OPD hopes to diminish the abundance of unused medicines in the community by having the Medicine Box in place so that the public can freely come and discard all of their expired prescriptions and over the counter medicines, ensuring that they are not put in the wrong hands for misuse. The box is located in the front lobby of OPD and is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
