Boy charged with making threat

A fifth-grade boy attending summer school at Bowie Middle School was charged Monday with threat of exhibition of a firearm on school property, a class A misdemeanor.
A news release from Ector County ISD said the boy told several students he was going to bring a gun to school and shoot students.
Those who heard it reported his comments to a summer school supervisor who pulled the student from class and contacted ECISD police, the release said.
The boy admitted making the threatening comments, but said he was not serious. ECISD police charged the boy with threat of exhibition of firearm on school property, the release said
The release said the district wants to thank the students who reported this to the adults.
