WOMEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER: UTPB gets first win over West Texas A&M

The UTPB women’s soccer team defeated West Texas A&M for the first time in program history, winning 5-1 in a Lone Star Conference game Wednesday at Falcon Field.

The Falcons moved to 3-3-3, 1-1-2 while the Lady Buffs fell to 1-3-4, 0-1-2.

West Texas A&M struck first with a 19th minute goal by Kyndahl Britton on a penalty kick.

UTPB equalized with a 39th minute goal by Isabella Campos and the teams were tied at the half.

Tatiana Leggiero put the Falcons ahead in the 45th minute and Andrea Garcia doubled UTPB’s lead in the 68th minute.

Carolina Farias made it 4-1 with her goal in the 76th minute before Laura Perez got on the board with her 81st minute strike.

UTPB had six shots total, five of which were on target while West Texas A&M had only one shot.

The Falcons will next face Angelo State in a 7 p.m. game on Oct. 11 in San Angelo.
