WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UTPB falls to ASU in regular season final

SAN ANGELO The UTPB women’s basketball team dropped its regular season finale against Angelo State with a 78-65 loss Saturday on the road.

UTPB was led by Kamryn Lemon’s 23 points while Morgan Helgesen and Alexus Quaadman each had 10.

Angelo State was led in scoring by Madeline Stephens’ 19 points while Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant had 17 and Sawyer Lloyd finished with 15.

The Falcons ended the regular season at 22-6 overall, 17-5 in Lone Star Conference.

Angelo State moved to 20-11, 14-8.

Both teams will face each other again for a third consecutive time in next week’s Lone Star Conference tournament in the quarterfinal round at 12 p.m. March 8 at the Comerica Center in Frisco.

The Falcons will be the No. 3-seed while the Rambelles are the sixth seed.
