WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Falcons use strong finish to defeat Oklahoma Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. A fourth-quarter push helped the UTPB women’s basketball team defeat Oklahoma Christian 75-61 on the road Thursday.

After finishing the third period tied 57-57, the Falcons outscored their opponent 18-4 in the final period to grab the victory.

Rory Carter scored 18 points, matching her career high, to lead a trio of Falcons in double figures.

The game was close from the opening tip, with UTPB owning a four-point lead at the halftime break.

Oklahoma Christian got back in the game with a strong third quarter, but couldn’t hold off a late scoring surge from the visiting Falcons.

UTPB (7-18 overall, 3-10 Lone Star Conference) plays Arkansas-Fort Smith at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fort Smith, Ark.
