WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Falcons get first win of the season against South Dakota Mines

CANYON The UTPB women’s basketball team picked up its first win of the 2021 season Saturday, defeating South Dakota Mines 63-36 Saturday.

The Falcons got out to a quick start, closing out the first quarter with a 19-4 lead and held on to take a 12-point advantage into the halftime break.

UTPB outscored South Dakota Mines 34-19 throughout the second half to seal the win.

Alexus Wykoff led the Falcons with 12 points, while Alexus Quaadman reeled in nine rebounds.

The win helped UTPB bounce back from a 62-52 loss in its season opener against Colorado Mesa University.

The Falcons continue their season with a trip to Anchorage, Alaska, going up against Alaska-Fairbanks at 6 p.m. Friday.
